Ride Prepared

Parks Canada Pass

Required for all trails inside Banff National Park. Buy online at the Parks Canada website before you go — it's faster than paying at the gate. An annual Discovery Pass at $72.25 pays for itself in three visits.

What to Bring

  • Bear spray (mandatory in grizzly country)
  • Layers + rain jacket
  • Sunscreen and sunglasses
  • Water (2L minimum for longer rides)
  • Snacks or lunch
  • Phone with offline maps downloaded
  • Basic first aid kit

Wildlife Safety

The Canadian Rockies are home to grizzlies, black bears, elk, cougars, and wolves. Keep 100 m from bears and wolves, 30 m from elk and other wildlife. Never feed animals. Make noise in dense forest. Know how to use your bear spray before the ride starts.
